Scharffen Berger Chocolate

Posted by Dave on July 1, 2008

Q: Is your chocolate nut and dairy free?

A: Our 9.7 ounce Home Baking Bars (99% cacao, 70% cacao and 62% cacao) and our 2Kg chocolate propacks (99% cacao, 82% cacao, 70% cacao, and 62% cacao) are nut and dairy free. We manufacture these chocolates in our Berkeley, CA facility. These items are also kosher and pareve.

While we make the chocolate for all our items, we may use other facilities to mold and wrap them. These facilities may also process both nuts and dairy on the equipment we use, so we cannot guarantee that all of our products are completely nut and dairy free. Our cocoa powder is also packaged in an outside facility. You can check our product labels to determine if there are products for which we cannot guarantee the nut or dairy-free status.

Merlin’s Christmas Chocolates are peanut free!

Posted by Dave on December 6, 2007

I was looking through the Christmas candy at the local CVS today and was pleasantly surprised to find Merlin’s Candies Christmas Chocolate with a nice big “Made in a peanut free facility” label on the back.

I should note that they do make an item that contains pecans, when I called, the rep said  that product is made on a separate line.
